Senior Health Career Pathway Workshop
Please Note: The workshop format in 2011 will be changing! No further workshops have been scheduled at this time. Please watch this space for further information.
The Senior Health Career Pathway Workshop is offered in the Christmas holiday period for students who have finished Year 11 and will be entering Year 12. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to gain further insight into different health careers in preparation for their QTAC applications towards the end of Year 12. The workshop is funded by Queensland Health and coordinated by the Cunningham Centre - Southern Area Workforce Unit.
The main objective of the workshop is to provide students with a further understanding of the health career pathways available in Queensland.
The three-five day workshop program provides information on:
- the types of jobs available in the health industry in Queensland;
- health courses available at universities throughout Queensland;
- tertiary entrance requirements including OPs, prerequisites, costs etc;
- life while at TAFE and university
- working while studying, accommodation and the support services available;
- personal and professional career development.
The workshop program emphasises the health courses on offer at Queensland universities, provides for hands-on demonstrations and numerous information sessions from various health professionals and academics currently working in the industry. A unique feature of the Senior Health Career Pathway Workshop is the tour of a major metropolitan teaching hospital and an opportunity to work shadow a health professional.
From Bundaberg to Bedourie and everywhere in between!
HCB workshops are open to students in rural and remote Queensland only. Since 2003, 983 senior students have participated in Senior Health Career Pathway Workshops across Queensland!
