CSHISC consult with the Health and Community Services sector to develop and maintain high quality Training Packages (i.e. the Certificates and Diploma’s). They have a fantastic search engine on their website to find out about what courses are offered and where they are offered. Simply navigate to ‘Qualifications and Job Search’. They also have a great range of profiles on different careers and tools to help you plan your career pathway.

This website is a comprehensive website to understand more about the higher education system in Queensland. It includes information on paying for uni and the types of fees and assistance available. There are also heaps of useful publications and fact sheets to download.

Job Guide

The Job Guide booklet is distributed to all schools in Australia with Year 10 students. It has information on hundreds of careers and their training pathways. On the website there are also some tools for career development, understanding VET in schools, and Australian Apprenticeships.

This site has a great questionnaire that can help you understand more about your strengths and weaknesses and learn about the kinds of job you would like. They also have an extensive range of health career profiles, videos, information on funding and scholarships plus much more!

Queensland Tertiary Admission Centre (QTAC)

QTAC's role is to provide and operate a centralised tertiary application system and to publish comprehensive information for prospective applicants.  QTAC currently receives and processes applications for admission to the majority of undergraduate courses offered in Queensland and Northern New South Wales.  It also processes applications to full-time advanced diploma and diploma courses in Queensland institutes of TAFE and some private providers of post secondary courses.
Most of the course you apply for will be through QTAC.

This Queensland Government website provides a fantastic step by step guide in becoming an apprentice or trainee during and after school. There is a comprehensive amount of information for Students, Parents, Schools, and Business.

Australian Apprenticeships Job Pathways

This is a fantastic website where you can search under the health industry to find out what Apprenticeships and Traineeships are currently offered in Queensland (both school based and non-school based). They also have a great map of pathways in the health system through Vocational Education.

Australian Apprenticeships and Traineeships Information Service

This website provides information and resources for Australian Apprenticeship Centres, Registered Training Organisations, Group Training Organisations, Job Services Australia providers and other service providers and stakeholders. 

National Training Information Service

The NTIS is the official national register of Training Packages, Qualifications, Courses, and RTO’s. Training Packages are the overarching package that lists the many Qualifications available in that industry. For example, the Health Training Package, HLT07, lists the 86 Qualifications that you are able to study in health (from Certificate II through to Advanced Diploma). They also provide a listing of which RTO’s deliver the different Qualifications.

On this website you will find information on Queensland traineeships and apprenticeships. There is also a service called Queensland Training and Information Service (QTIS) which is very comprehensive and allows you to search for Qualifications and RTO’s in Queensland that offer the training.

This site is designed to be a one stop shop for employers, training organisations, and learners to access the vast array of information on the Vocational Education and Training sector. Rural Health Club Links

In Queensland there are clubs that have been set up for students studying a health related degree that are interested in a rural career or are from a rural area. The clubs are run by students and members are welcome from any health discipline! They are a great organisations to join (and cheap as well!) so you can meet like minded students from rural areas.
